We have a strong Customer Service focus, and you will enjoy dealing with a small friendly company where YOU are the most important person!

Peter McDonald is the Executive Director at Doctor Jay's Cartoon Portraits. He's got a great sense of humour and comes up with fun ideas for the artwork, but specialises in the management of the business.

Peter has extensive organisational management experience, having held Senior Executive Service appointments within the NSW Government over several years, both in the human services and justice portfolios. Peter holds an undergraduate degree in Social Science/Psychology and Certificate IV in Workplace Training and Assessment.

He is accomplished in strategic planning and implementation, change management and culture transformation, and he has a particular interest in developing a customer service culture as a strategy to substantially improve business outcomes.

Peter is a member of The International Prisons and Corrections Association and a member of the Probation and Community Corrections Association, and maintains a significant international network of Corrections professionals.

Peter is into his tractor and his Suzuki Boulevarde. He quite loves his chain saw too! And he's learning to play the banjo.

Jay Harley-McDonald ("Doc") is our principal artist and creative talent. Her Cartoon Portraits, caricatures and artwork have been published in a variety of media over many years. She has also entertained audiences with her "on the spot" drawings in public presentations, workshops and training environments. She is the illustrator for Reptiles Australia, Aquarium Keeper, Ozbike and Ozbiker Nation magazines.

Jay has a background in journalism, graphic art, radio broadcasting, missing persons investigation, Salvation Army ministry, theatre production, coaching, and senior management in various government and non-government human services both in Australia and overseas. Now she just draws pictures.

She holds undergraduate and postgraduate qualifications in the social sciences, education, coaching, television and radio, as well as Masters degrees in Comparative Religion and Counselling, and a Doctorate in Criminology. She has numerous competency-based certificates, including Management and Workplace Training & Assessment. Jay authored the history of Parole and Probation Services in New South Wales, and has a long association with the Department of Corrective Services. (See Publications & Links).

She is a member of Ulysses ("Growing Old Disgracefully") motorbike club and also the HOG (Harley owners Group). Like Peter, she cuts a mean form in her black riding gear, and has some pretty mean-looking friends! She is also a WIRES volunteer. Peter tolerates Jay's zoo, which includes reptiles, wallabies and native birds plus an array of domestic pets. Her greatest pleasure is releasing native animals back into the wild after rehabilitation.

The income from Cartoon Portraits assists in supporting native animal care and charities such as World Vision.

Peter and Jay have a blended family of six children and four grandchildren.

Life is busy, but fun.
